| If you're trying to move on with your life following an arrest: Please understand that while America is a generous country, a land where second and third and fourth -- and more -- chances to start over are available, if you have been arrested the landscape changes, as you are discovering, as regards your being able to work again in our public schools with our children and public money. While I am sympathetic to your plight, and offer you sincere best wishes for your new life, I will not remove a valid arrest mention without receiving from you all of the following below; I apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause you, and have only had to institute this new policy because I've spent several hours in the past few months trying to help folks who contacted me saying they were innocent, then, when I contacted pertinent local authorities such as police departments and DA's, discovered that the charges had not been dropped and the folks who contacted me had actually pleaded "guilty." Please send ALL of the following to the address below: o Copies of: (a) your court records including a dismissal of all charges by the judge, (b) your police and arrest report, and (c) all pleadings filed by your attorney on your behalf including but not limited to settlement agreement(s). o A copy of your employment file from your public school employer at the time of your arrest. Please delete your Social Security number and other personal information protected by the Freedom of Information Act. What would be helpful: A letter from your former superintendent stating that you are eligible for rehire at that district. o A copy of your valid certificate and/or license from your state's education department or agency showing that you have been cleared of all charges and may return to work in your state's public schools. Please send all of the above documents to: |

| Friends, please put enough information in the re or subject box for me to know that your email is not spam. Best: Name of school district and state, plus nature of problem. Due to the heavy volume of reader mail, I am no longer able to open emails with blank subject lines; they go straight to my junk folder. |
